MEET FILM DIRECTOR SEDIKA MOJADIDI!

On TUESDAY, NOV. 6, Film/Media Studies hosts filmmaker SEDIKA MOJADIDI and her new film FACING THE DRAGON.

Following its recent New York premiere at the Film Society of Lincoln Center (where it won the top prize at the 2018 Human Rights Watch Film Festival), FACING THE DRAGON comes to Lewisburg.

Afghan-American director Sedika Mojadidi’s documentary follows the U.S. withdrawal of forces and aid from Afghanistan and the Taliban’s resurgance. The film focuses on two awe-inspiring women on the front lines: Nilofar, a successful doctor-turned-member of parliament, driven in her mission to secure peace and well-being for women; and Shakila, a top investigative journalist committed to exposing the truth about what is happening in her troubled country.

Showing on TUESDAY at 7PM at THE CAMPUS THEATRE. FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. The filmmaker will introduce the film and then hold a Q&A after the screening.

Sponsored by: Film/Media Studies, University Lectureship Committee, Bucknell Arts Council, Center for Study of Race, Ethnicity, and Gender and Department of International Relations.
